HybriCore Fabric Managers

Enigma has designed four truly single chip fabric managers which typically reside on the line cards. The EN6200 family of fabric managers provides queued data services on a line card, along with packet scheduling for a switch fabric system. All EN6200 devices carry the scheduling "intelligence" for the system, allowing line cards to be changed and updated without changing the switch card.

The EN6200 devices support up to four user interfaces, each able to transport 12+ Gbps of user traffic. Under user control, each fabric manager user interface can be partitioned into up to 12 ports. Each port is individually rate-programmable and is able to tag one of eight unicast or eight multicast QoS classes.

Variable length packet switching is controlled by the EN6200 device with up to 98% backplane bandwidth utilization. Out-of-band scheduling provides deterministic switching performance and rate guarantees. QoS performance requirements for unicast and multicast traffic are managed with a high granularity of priority levels. The EN6240 provides specific end-to-end weight and min/max rate guarantees.

Connectivity with the HybriCore switch is achieved using high speed full duplex SERDES links, which incorporate sophisticated equalization circuitry and feedback loops to ensure reliable link operation, even with changes in humidity or temperature inside the system.
