SANTA CLARA, CA and COPENHAGEN January 9, 2007 Enigma
Semiconductor, an emerging technology leader in next-generation
switching silicon, today announced that Jens Madsen has joined the
company as Vice President of Engineering, directing the company's
Copenhagen-based research and development team and reporting to Enigma
President and CEO Rob Sturgill.
The company's HybriCore™ chipset, announced in July 2006, is the
world's first linearly scalable packet switching chipset, and has been
identified by Electronic Design Magazine as one of its Hot 100
Products of 2006.
The chipset family, which features both packet switches and a range of
fabric managers, sets new benchmarks for density, efficiency and
flexibility. Based on Enigma's HybriCore™ architecture, the chipset
streamlines time-to-market for OEMs designing next-generation metro
access switches and routers, multi-service provisioning platforms
(MSPPs), enterprise routers and storage platforms.
"We are excited to have Jens join us to move our initial family of
HybriCore devices to full production and to deliver our next series of
solutions to the marketplace," said Rob Sturgill, president and CEO of
Enigma Semiconductor.
Madsen was previously director of development for Vitesse
Semiconductor's Ethernet Product Division, where he was responsible
for all development activities related to Vitesse Gigabit Ethernet
Switch products. Before joining Vitesse in 1998, he worked in the ASIC
group at DSC Communications, later Alcatel Denmark, as architect and
designer. Previously he worked as an associate professor at the
Broadband Telecommunication Institute at the Technical University of
Denmark in the fields of architecture, design and implementation of
high speed VLSI for broadband ATM systems.
Madsen holds MScEE and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the
Technical University of Denmark, focusing on high-speed self-timed
circuit design.
