SANTA CLARA, CA January 3, 2007 EDN magazine has
named the HybriCore Chipset from Enigma Semiconductor to this year's
list of winners in its annual Hot 100 Products issue. EDN's staff of
technical editors analyzes and compares the industry's product
introductions and makes its selections at the end of each year. Read
about all the products in EDN's December 15, 2006 issue and at
http://www.edn.com/2006hot100.
Products that appear in EDN's annual Hot 100 Products issue are chosen
by its editors from the hundreds of newsworthy items that grace the
pages of EDN, whether they appeared in EDN's New Products section, a
feature story, or an online exclusive. The list encompasses a range of
architectures and technologies and a plethora of categories from
analog ICs to multimedia to test-and-measurement tools. Enigma's
product appears in the Communications category.
"EDN editors cover an amazingly broad technology base and see
compelling products across the spectrum throughout the year," states
Editor in Chief Maury Wright. "The Hot 100 highlights the best of the
products from our feature and new-product articles and web coverage
over the course of the year. From components to processors to test
instruments, each of these 100 stands out in the crowd."
The HybriCore chipset is the world's first linearly scalable packet
switching chipset. The chipset family, which features both packet
switches and a range of fabric managers, sets new benchmarks for
density, efficiency and flexibility. Based on Enigma's HybriCore™
architecture, the chipset streamlines time-to-market for OEMs
designing next-generation metro access switches and routers,
multi-service provisioning platforms (MSPPs), enterprise routers and storage
platforms, as well as mesh and multi-chassis systems.
HybriCore began sampling in mid-2006 and is being designed into
next-generation switching platforms slated for commercial release in 2007.
"Being recognized as one of EDN's Hot 100 Products of 2006 is a
validation of the industry's direction toward the next generation in
highly scalable switch design," said Rob Sturgill, president and CEO
of Enigma Semiconductor. "Solving the dilemma of packet vs. cell-based
switching with a chipset that presents the best of both worlds has
made Enigma the premier supplier of next generation switching
platforms that deliver the scalability required for triple play
applications, while alleviating cost concerns among service providers
and enterprises by providing this scalability incrementally."
