SANTA CLARA, CA April 5, 2006 Enigma Semiconductor, an emerging
leader in integrated switching technology for networks carrying voice, data and
video, today announced that Red Herring has named The Company among the top 200
contenders for its annual "Red Herring 100 North America" list. More than 1,000
privately held technology companies were considered for this prestigious award
program that recognizes innovative, entrepreneurial companies that are creating
the greatest business opportunities in the industry.
"Among the hype of the coolest gadgets, the ability to solve the underlying
technology issues with innovative solutions is still at the core of what makes
a good technology company great," said Rob Sturgill, president and CEO of Enigma
Semiconductor. "We are honored that Red Herring has recognized Enigma Semiconductor's
potential as a technology innovator. Enigma is committed to building the
infrastructure for powerful next-generation network infrastructures that support
triple play services and in turn enable tomorrow's coolest gadgets."
"We can see the resurgence of the tech sector reflected in the quantity and
variety of excellent companies that we had to chose from in putting our list
together," said Joel Dreyfuss, Editor-in-Chief of Red Herring. "It was difficult
to choose the 200 finalists and we are very happy with the stellar quality of
the companies on this short-list."
Enigma's HybriCore integrated switch architecture has been developed to meet
the demands of next-generation triple play networks, providing a powerful, cost
effective and flexible merchant silicon solution for network and communication
equipment providers. The first scalable switching architecture to deliver both
cell switching and native packet switching across the system backplane, HybriCore
delivers more than 280 Gbps per switch. This means network equipment providers
can guarantee the delivery of 2 Terabits of non-blocking traffic across a system
backplane for their 10- and 40-Gigabit products designed for service provider
and enterprise networks. The Company plans to announce availability of its chipset
in the second quarter of 2006.
